When architects recreated the bath design in their home, they created a space that was both inviting and soothing after a hard day’s work. By removing walls to enhance the space of their live-in bath, the duo partners made a bath makeover that actually functions with the adjoining space as an all-around lounge/living room/dressing room.

The 300-square-foot master bath , which includes an air-jet tub, a pair of vanities, a double-size glass-enclosed shower, and a walk-in closet and storage closet, maintains the character of their 1916 European-style Atlanta home while at the same time keeping it up to date with contemporary touches. “It has simple, clean lines yet is rich and well detailed,” says Pritchett. “And we made it cozy by adding stained-wood beams and a painted-wood ceiling.”

These are my favorite decorating ideas to take the boredom out of the kitchen and bath and fill it with appeal.

Kitchen – Decorating Ideas:
1. Light the way. Install dimmers to brighten things up while cleaning. It’s essential to set an inviting and welcoming environment while entertaining.
2. Think Cabinets. Consider wood cabinets over metal or laminate. Search for stains and species with red or yellow undertones, such as pine or rich cherry. Mix and match wood tones for an even more welcoming kitchen decor.
3. Cover Up. Choose refrigerator doors and dishwashers with panels to match the cabinets, rather bringing in shiny stainless appliances.

Bathroom – Creative Flair:
1. Be artful. Decorate the walls with art in delicate frames. We don’t recommend treasured photos or something expense to avoid water damage.
2. Think Decorative Furnishings. Vanities that look like dressers, wod-framed mirrors, and upholstered chairs can give an intimate touch to your bathroom decor.
3. Express Yourself. Have a small collection of your favorite decorative accessories to add your own personal flair.
